Description
Since I've been absent from Renderosity for several months - which has almost become the norm of late... I wanted to present something a bit beyond the ordinary. Soooo - this is a (very) close up look at the abdomen of a spider with the scientific name Araneus diadematus - also known as the garden spider or the cross spider (obviously, because of the distinct markings on its abdomen). This spider is one of the most commonly seen orb weavers in northern Europe. The female reaches a size of 10-18mm - and this specimen (a female) was a lot closer to 10 than 18 (I suppose our cold climate here in Norway is partly to blame for that:).

A terrific close-up. The detail is incredible and like a work of art. You did a great job on such a tiny creature and I really like the way macros enable one to see normally invisible things.
