This one is a bit silly, it was an experiment. I wondered if I could use a "height map" laid onto a lattice object to create a complete Roman aqueduct (don't ask why, it was late that night!) I "drew" the height map in Fireworks using shades of grey to make the "levels" for the lattice and pulled it into Bryce at "mega resolution" in the Lattice/Terrain Editor. Then I applied a "stone texture" (I believe it was "cave wall") and added the two lanterns (which are more complex objects with lights). I didn't want to make a terrain, so I angled the camera up and stuck in a Bryce night sky and their rather disappointing moon (I wish Bryce had a really good moon - even Bryce 6 doesn't do it for me, yet I adore Bryce anyway!) Of course, you'll all see the trick here. The moon is behind the aqueduct, so the front of the aqueduct should be completely dark. That wouldn't reveal much, so I used the movie maker's trick of artificially lighting the front of the "building". Anyway, the point is that using a height map and lattice, I made one object instead of the hundreds of separate objects the aqueduct would normally require. Of course, there are drawbacks to this approach, but the image only took me two hours from start to finish, and it was an experiment.
