Description

Captured 3/6/07 at the El Dorado Park Nature Center in Long Beach, California. Ignoring the trail signs warning visitors to stay on the designated path, I ventured out onto the restricted area of the Nature Center, seeking new avenues of photographic interest, and soon came upon this seemingly impenetrable mass of tree growth. Armed with only a pocket knife, I soon found that any further exploration in this area was a losing cause, a fool's errand, if you will, so I retreated into more hospitable terrain for any captures of note. Because of the extended drought in Southern California, the environment in the Nature Center looked, felt and smelled dry and dusty, and probably still does. Have a Happy Hump Day, ya'll!

Here are some really well captured branches and twigs with a minimum of leaves and no limbs making this a fine photo of twiggy branches. There is much to look at and if you are creative, you can do one of those maze puzzles with this... just pick a spot to "get to" and follow the maze of branches and twigs until you reach it... A very interesting shot and I love the combination of colors you captured here.

Gadzooks! A veritable thicket! Twiggy brancheds indeed, with no annoying trunks or snags to mar the delicate tracery. (I've tried PJ's game, by the way - it's quite absorbing!)

You can smell the heat, (and dread the potential fire) in this very evocative pic. Lovely work.

You made your point well, a criss cross of impenetrable "forest" much like some parts I know. I hope the rain has come in the meantime. It's good to see you are still going strong.

This shot reminds me of the Stephen King novel, Pet Cemetery, where they find an ancient Indian graveyard on the other side of a huge deadfall like this, scary!

That looks like the foliage immediately behind the house here. When I first came here I asked my sister why she lived in a swamp. Oddly it is near the top of a hill.

Well despite the drought, there are still signs of greenery which adds a touch of "specialness" (if there even is such a word?) to this capture. Life continues despite all. A great capture dear Harry. xx

I use to ignore warning signs like you did. I always have a feeling they wan to hide something unique from me and I have to discover it no matter what. This branch chaos is just look so cool. Love the softness in a colors.
