Yep you can imagine my surprise when I moved this watermelon off our kitchen table (where it had been sitting for a week) and discovered a Monarch Chrysalis attached to it. This is the fourth year we have enjoyed the wonder of rearing Monarchs from eggs and caterpillars. Once in awhile one of the adult caterpillars will escape while we are cleaning out the containers where they grow. I have to post a pic of one that escaped two yrs ago and decided to make it’s chrysalis under the edge of our kitchen table. ( as you can imagine our household is not quit normal, one never know what you will find in our happy home) It is a good thing that I don’t operate a jail for a living. If I can’t catch a caterpillar escaping I wouldn’t stand a chance against two legged beast Enjoy, comments are always welcome. PS We did safely remove the chrysalis from the watermelon and moved it to a better location.
