Description

Vera (PeeWee) and myself went to Dungeness this afternoon. This is one of the shots I took there. Dungeness is a very strange place of old abandoned boats, engines, sheds and some things that just defy description or reason. It is also a truly unique natural habitat and to photograph it all would take a lifetime. Today the sun shone from an almost cloudless sky which is the conditions I prefer most to capture the stark beauty of this place. There is a full version if you click on the image. Many thanks for viewing and any comments, Richard.

This is a lovely shot. I also like the pov. If I had to make suggestions, I would day perhaps crop a little bit more off the right. Other than that, I see nothing else that could be done. Wonderful shot!

A powerful image Richard. I like it very much the way you have presented it. We all see things differently. A superb shot, I hope your afternoon with Vera was a good one. Hugs for you both Diane.

You have quite a knack for getting the perfect exposure- the sky is not at all blown out and the landscape and boat are also perfectly preserved- really nice balance between the boat angling to the top left and the rails and vegetation angling to the bottom right - cool shot! It is interesting to see this boat just sitting out on the rocks next to the tracks- and for so many years - I wonder why?

Neat image. I really like the stark crispness of everything. I do find myself sorta wishing you had offered a wide angle view which would have given a better sense of the scale of everything but the cropped boat as primary subject is pretty awesome as is. I have heard about narrow gauge railroads but this image makes the track look like a garden railroad scale almost, lol. Thanks for sharing. Lee

I'm going to merge Mrs M and Leeco's comments and offer that maybe a pan a bit to the right would've been good to get the boat more centred and 'in your face' also helping to get rid of the blue bag on the floor. Granted I know that there was that shed on the left that could've gotten in the way. I said to you that I liked this shot for the fact that isn't so extraordinary and that the rails go to no where. I honestly think it's flatter than it needs to be and could be a lot punchier. Maybe you rush edited, or did really edit at all :) I think a frame either black, white or dark grey would be beneficial too. I had a great time and have got quite few shots that I didn't like too much on a 2.5" screen. Just goes to show that you shouldn't trust those dodgy on camera screens except for the histogram.
