Description

This is showing the inlet for the reservoir but more importantly flagstone and dry stone walling. With the quarry just out of shot on the right, I suppose they had a good supply for building materials. Unfortunately drystone walling is a dying tradition, and when they fall into disrepair they are left like that. It is back breaking work for a small reward so the numbers of people that are able to do it are falling all the time. Thanks for looking and for any comments you care to make. May the sun shine down on you where ever you are. be careful what you say to your children, they are the ones that choose your old folks home.

That's a brilliant shot Jeff. Love the colours and textures. Especially full size.

Wonderful view! I love the contrast between the two walls. dry rock may be a dying art but its so much more interesting and endearing. Great shot.

Excellent presentation! A dying art indeed for the dry stone walling and you have spoken a very treasured word about your kids choosing the old folks home.

I'm playing catchup, Mr Bush decided to park his space shuttle opposite my satellite I think I agree, its a shame to see all the old drystone walls in disrepair or stolen to enhance someones rock garden, and its nice to see people who are interested enough to show future generations how it used to be whilst it still exists, Thanks!
