Otherworldly Oasis - IR by TwoPynts

"The moment we walked in, we knew it was the oasis we had been looking for." ~ Pete Lawrence
A quiet spot at the Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, FL. I'd like to dedicate this photo to our fellow Renderosity members living in Hawaii. Hurricane Flossie is bearing down on them and to make matters worse, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit the big Island last night. So Punaguy, Sharky, thevolunteer, and our other friends there, stay safe and I hope things soon return to the type of calm pictured above. A few of you have commented on my infrared images and I guess it is not too clear how I get them. In short, I am shooting with a modified camera that captures mostly the infrared spectrum of light. I say mostly because this specific camera also lets a slight bit of "normal" light reach the sensor, which is how I get a "false color" scheme. When I download it on my computer, the colors are actually reversed so I swap the red and blue color channels to get blue skies instead of red. No layering or other special manipulations are done. EXIF data was left intact on this one. ------
Thank you for your gothic comments on my last upload, What Hath Thou Wrought? ----- Sony DSC-P200 (IR Converted) & PhotoshopCS. (984) Lake Wales, Florida, USA 2007 Sponsored by: Kramer Kreations

I was just reading up on how black and white, as well as sepia photos, give a better presentation than some color shots. Amazing what a POV how the lack of colors can make such a huge difference in a picture. You have a fantastic gallery. Mahalo for the well wishes for Punaguy, Sharky, and me. Besides the hurricane, the earthquake was a shocker. It said 5.3, but it sure felt stronger to me. Plus, it was only 25 miles from us. No wonder it felt so spooky. Now to deal with Flossie today...You take care too. Aloha

Wow, that is a great shot. Thank you for sharing your 'how you do it' with us! I also hope those RR members in Hawaii are ok, and back with us soon.

Wow, so many different levels of light. It's odd that we don't notice things like that when color is in play. Great capture.

Whatever sorcery you employ in the creation of your IR concepts, they come out exquisitely. The lighting and textures are striking in this composition. And I have a nephew living in Hawaii also, who has been keeping me up to date on the odyssey of Flossie. Nothing about the earthquake, though.
