Description


Nikon 7900 image. Yesterday's posting showed a female Blue Dasher assuming this position and todays shows a female Eastern Amberwing doing the same thing. This position (called oblisking) helps the Dragonfly cope with very hot temperatures. They point their tails towards the sun to minimize the amount of surface area that gets direct light. Not all species do this. Thanks to all those who take the time to comment. Lee
