Description

Just as I was about to regain a presence on Renderosity again, horror struck after having bought my new Canon 11 months ago! :( Edit: The problem has still not been resolved and I get silly advice like cleaning the lens contacts with a pencil eraser. wtf! The Canon 30D displayed an Error99 while shooting the lions. Please visit this site , I posted comments under my name "Piet". Thank you for visits and comments:

Ohhh... man. What pain and agony!! The faded colors you chose with the digital lettering makes it all too real for me. My stomach is in knots viewing this! Best of luck dealing with it and whatever can be done to rectify as much of this situation as possible.

That was very nice of you to inform us about, my friend. I will keep that information in mind, so if it happens to my future new camera, I may know what to do. Thank you very much :)))

I find this information very helpful, even though I have not encoountered such a problem. My only frustration is with the sensor and that all to often it ends up getting dust specks. Currently I am using a Nikon D70 which was a gift, though I have and still feel that Canon is top dog. Yet I am otherwise happy with the Nikon and plan to purchase two lenses for it in the near furture. Thank you for sharing. egmont

I am happy that you were able to resolve the issue. I had a problem with my Fuji not long after buying and sent it to a repair place in San Antonio.the tech told me over the phone what the problem was and an issue that happen many times with the same model. Fuji never issued a recall which made me mad.I was in withdrawal for 2 weeks with no camera!!!

Sorry to hear the camera is still **#? Maybe time to bite the bullet and send it back for a warranty repair if you have ruled out dirty contacts and lens problems..

How odd...I was just thinking today what it would be like if my camera squatted on me. What would I do, how would I feel without it? I couldn't even imagine what it would do to me. I know the cannon I had before I got this camera was dynamic but the software associated with it was always shutting down on me. I got to where I knew the entire tech squad by name and they knew me. LOL My thoughts are with you in this grave time of loss...:-(

I hate things like this. Thats the reason why I bought a second camera (a used Minolta D5D) for backup. Sometimes I think that the consumers are cheap beta-testers for the companies.

I don't know, 80% of my shots are with my Canon A80, with never a problem, and I've had the camera since December of 2003. Anyway, glad to see you're reestablishing yourself on Renderosity, no doubt to present more fabulous shots of flora and fauna in your locale.

I am so sorry that you have had so much trouble. It's not possible to demand a replacement body?? Good luck, I hope you will be able to resolve this somehow. I know I would be frustrated beyond words.

Just when you had a great shot lined up for that to happen must have made you mad. I do hope they get ironed out for you and that we can see some more great postings here.

While technology is a wonderful thing, the complexity does have drawbacks. It's why I still shoot with film. My AE1 is 30 years old and still doing just fine. Hope you get up and running soon, Piet.

Oh NO!! It should still be under warranty right? Geez I hope you can get it resolved so you can get back to your great photography. I guess I shouldn't be so hard on my camera, it hasn't done anything like this to me yet.
