I have many dreams, mostly ones one can hardly convey in spoken language. I want nature and peace around me, yet I do not want to relinquish digital photography. I have a Nikon D200 with a very basic lens. I had a Canon 30D too, but what a disappointment. BIO I am 55, an IT consultant and tried my hand at diamond digging, computer programming, being a network & computer technician, web designer, amateur photographer, etc. I am a man of the bush and appreciate simple things. I do photography assignments from time to time. I am privileged to live where I do, (map), a rural area in South Africa where I can hear the lions roar just 12 miles (20km) from where I live. I love this site and the artists uploading their work and I don't think any other site offers this varied depth in artistic skills. Piet

Well, hopefully your problem is resolved! If ever I get a Cannon, I will remember all those little tricks! It's hard to believe that Cannon hasn't been more responsive about getting the word about getting the word as to how to do some trouble shooting! It sort of sucks when you have to mess around for so long before you (not them, you) figure out how to get a fix! Thanks you so much for posting this ... I hope I never have to need any of this info!

Too bad. I had bad luck with my firsy digital camera,Nikon 5700, after two years of use. After three months they replaced the matrix free of charge. Couldn't wait so long so bought a Cannon 350. Has been okay so far.

Ugh, ugh, and double ugh! I feel for you Piet. $300 to fix a known issue? Because of this, Cannon DSLRs are off the consideration list when the times comes for me to upgrade. The new Oly E3 looks rather appealing...
