Description

Back in June, I posted an image of a male Cassin's Finch. This is a female Cassin's Finch. It is not the mate to that male, because I saw him with his mate, and she was perfectly allright. This female came often during those same weeks, but always came alone. She had a healthy appetite, and ate well, in spite of the awful sore below her eye. Note, also, the round bulge on the back toe. Nature is not always kind. I have not seen her recently. Thanks for looking and thanks very kindly for your views and comments.

We wish this little lady well, and hope she recovers. I have seen injured and crippled birds in the wild before, and sometimes they do adjust. Thanks for sharing this.

She really does have a problem but as long as she can eat I guess she will be all right. What pretty markings she has. I do hope she makes it.

Excellent shots! The poor thing, I sure hope she is doing ok... I can't recall ever seeing a finch before (maybe on tv). She does have great markings!

Poor little girl. Looks like an ulceration or growth on her face. All God's creatures suffer various disorders at times.

The facial absess appears to be on the ear. The one on the foot looks irritated. I would think both were infected and she will not be seen again. Very good, clear shots of this bird with excellent detail.

Poor little thing! It breaks my heart, but this is the way nature is. Other than that, she is quite the cutie! I too have seen a bird with something similar on it. Did not know what it was, but the bird itself was fiesty! Fabulous shots and it is wonderful to see you post again!
