Description
We captured this real beauty last night at the “Moth Magnet” ( 3000 volt bug Zapper with the Zapper disconnected hung in front of a white bed sheet).
The moth is about 2.5 inches across from wingtip to wingtip. The reflective silver and copper colors are striking. My daughter said that it would make a beautiful party dress, thus the name of the pic.
If you look at the moths wings closely you can see the trailing edges are frilled at the edges this may be natures way to help it fly more stealthy at night. The trailing edges of owl wing feathers have a similar design feature.
Nature you just gotta be impressed.

This is quite beautiful. I always felt moths got the short end of the stick and butterflies got all the glory. This is a wonderful macro with lovely detail. Excellent shot.
