Description

High on the cliffs above Whitby are the gaunt, imposing remains of Whitby Abbey. Founded in 657 by St. Hilda, Whitby Abbey has over the years been a bustling settlement. It was the home of Caedmon the poet, and the inspiration for Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula. It is about 4 miles from my home. I often walk up here to feel the history of this amazing place. It is a very peacefuI place to walk. I have a special friend who lives nearby! Blaize, who is a horse :-) So I visit the Abbey and my friend at the same time. Have a wonderful evening. I thank you for looking and for comments which are treasured. Hugs. Diane.

Wow. Four miles from MY house is a shopping mall. It's really old too . . . built in 1979. Clearly, I'm living in the wrong place! This is absolutely gorgeous.

WONDERFUL shot... I adore this ancient architecture, if I had free some wishes I would love to see it being rebuilt... I know just a dream, but wouldn't it be great to experience this grandeur again? Thanks so much for sharing!
