Title: Barn Door No. 1, for Ian
Series: from Landscapes near home
Location: Alhambra Road, El Sobrante, California
Date: August 17, 2007
Image: N06972M1b2
Camera: Nikon D70, Full Frame
Commentary: As artists we each have our strengths, including weaknesses we try to
overcome and I for one certainly have my fair share, particularly wanting to fill a scene
with as much as possible objects when doing a still-life. It is as though I never heard of the
phrase less is more.
I would like to dedicate this series of a barn door to a good friend of mine, who’s
birthday it happens to be today. It is also to someone who has taught me through his own
artwork what minimalism is, as his artistic vision is at the opposite spectrum mine.
Thank you Ian for giving me a piece to the puzzle, the peg in the ladder by which I rise
myself up and to the next level in my art.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAN !
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and commenting. Vielen danke das sie die Zeit genommen haben meine Arbeit zu betrachten und darauf zu Kommentieren. Egmont

Great detail on the grains. This door looks old and patched. Nicely done.

Thank you Egmont for your very kind dedication. I love this series for its textures caused by time and decay and also for the strong abstract composition shown. Excellent!!

Well captured abstracts of this door.

Yes I love the texture that time has brought to this barn. If it had a voice and could speak..you have told it's story well in your B&W photographs.

Good Evening, Dear Egmont. A work of great strength and beauty. So wonderful that we can all give and receive from each other, thus learning so much. This has been an enlightnig series in many ways, not only the superb images but the depth and feeling of your words, Egmont. A superb dedication to your friend, Ian. I will look to his gallery. I wish you a happy birthday, Ian. I bid you both goodnight with a hug. Diane.

Once again you find so much interest in a subject that may not have been given more than a cursory glance by many.. Apart from the wonderful composition and great technique.. I enjoy other factors within... It is remarkable the door was left standing..

Superb ! Those weathered woods are genial.

I love this series Egmont and have also tried dabbling in close up shots to reveal textures, light and shadow - but have never attained anything so beautiful as this! As others inspire and motivate you, you do to others... me included. Your words and artwork are truly inspirational and I adore the way you are able to bring out so many details from something so "ordinary". The tonal range in your B&W is brilliant and the lighting is perfect. A true piece of abstract art. Wonderful! xx (Oh, sorry, Happy Birthday Ian x)
zoren
nice composition, line, light and textures are superb.

How fortunate to have found a friend to inspire you. As you know, I feel that way, too, and feel it's always good to acknowledge and thank the sources of our inspiration. Beautiful abstraction here, Egmont.I paricularly like the fact that this is a door, which I find most symbolic in it's implications. I wonder what's beyond the door? Is it another series? M :^) PS Thx for your most insightful commentary on my latest.
Stringy
Really like the effect you have achieved here. The combination of the black and white and all the different wood textures make this very interesting.
