Description

This is what remains of the Shawver Mill in Tazewell County, southwest Virginia. It was built around 1850 by my distant ancestor, George Shawver (my maiden name). What was once a thriving community is now just rolling hills in the Clinch Valley. I had heard of it all my life, but wanted to see it in person. It is recessed from the upper road, so much so that I would have never seen it had it not been for the historical marker by the road. Try full size for better quality. Thank you very much for all your kind comments on my recent images, and thanks for having a look at this one.

Excellently cropped and a very pleasing view of the historical and seemingly still working mill.

A wonderful shot rich with history. Too bad the guard rail is so close and pushes at the antique nature of the mill... But you have found a great pov! Excellent shot.
