Description

I am doing this to try to cheer myself up a bit so please excuse me. This is a 100% true story and I created the image from my memory as best I could. Float Trip: When my sister and I were little we spent a lot of time at my grandparents farm. During one visit we got the idea that we wanted to go floating on the big pond down the hill. Since we didn't have a boat we made do with the next best thing. We got one of the old, rusty stock tanks that they used to use to water or feed cattle in. The only problem was there were a few holes in the bottom but my sister and I didn't let that stop us as we took some roofing tar and small boards and attempted to patch it. We rolled the large metal tank down the hill, put it in the pond, and like two idiots climbed on in. I got a old pipe from the scrap pile and shoved us out into the pond. So there we are for a few minutes at least on top of the world. Floating in what seemed to us at that age as our own personal ocean. :) After less than 15 minutes I recall my sister screaming as she had spotted a stream of water spraying up from our poor patch job. At the time I was having the time of my life and didn't realize it. ( note: if you look in the distance you can see a tiny figure running toward us ) That figure was my Grandfather who was VERY mad at our stupid stunt and was trying to get to us before we drown. LOL Thank you for letting me share this story, I just needed to do something to clear my head a bit and hopefully bring a smile to someone else while doing it. Take care and please pray for my sis Veronica if you will. Thanks, Dave I'll post the credits later I promise, sorry

loll good scene! But I was waiting for the end of the story... What happened? I understand your grandfather got to you before you drowned because you wouldn't be here to tell the story... but how did you get out of that spot? (and of course your sister is in my prayers)

You will not believe this, but I had nearly the same experience. A friend of mine and I were recent teenagers, and we got the idea of using a zodiac-like plastic canoe to go navigating up and down some nearby New Jersey rivers. This error in judgement was comppounded by the fact that we took my todler younger brother with us because he demanded to go with us. When I got back, my father literally kicked my rear-end around the house. A day later, a news report came out that a teenager my age had done exactly the same thing I had done that day and gotten himself drown. And so I got another set of kicks where I needed them. (Sometimes you just don't learn anyother way.) Excellent render and story. +5

I didn't know you were a daredevil of a boy, Dave, but this scene is a reminder of a couple of memorable blunders and tricks I also initiated or was a victim to , as a child .Excellent composition and the perspective you've chosen makes it even more vivid. 5+++

What a beautiful memory and story and your Veronica is always in my prayers. No matter how heartbreaking it is to see the pain be there, you probably won't understand this now but whatever the outcome you'll cherish these moments as much as the one in your image-blessins my friend

It’s funny we grow up we see the dangers of life But we also lose a little of the magic too When a pond was the high sea’s and an old tank are flag ship to command I think I struggle to grow wise without growing old Thank you it made me smile and also remember some of the Adventures (dangerous stunts) I tried when young

Wonderful story and render! My next door neighbor and I tried that with a cardboard card table upside down, which promptly became waterlogged. We were just in a puddle though, LOL!

very amusing story and a render relating to childhood memories is outstanding.your composition is superb. the most scare I had was trying to walk on a sludge pond that had crusted over.luckily I had the sense to fall backwards and grabbed the bank because I was already to my knees and sinking like a rock

Well you asked for it so here is what happened next. As my sister screamed for me to do something I remember desperately trying to push with the piece of pipe. The only problem was we were far enough out that my pipe was barely touching the bottom so we were moving too slow and the water was filling up so fast. As my Grandfather approached the pond we had managed to make it about 12 feet from shore and our poor ship sank. The good news is we were close enough by then we could stand up in the water and walk to the shore. The bad news was Grandfather was waiting there and grabbed hold of me first since he knew it had to be my idiotic idea. We both got spanked pretty hard and I had no desire to try that again. ( Don't worry I had a knack for experimenting and exploring that always seemed to get me in trouble ) The bad part was that we did this when my Grandmother was gone to work. You see if she was there she would never allow him to spank us, so it was our mistake to try this stunt when she wasn't around to protect us from spankings. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments, Take care, Dave P.S. Sometimes we forget or maybe find it difficult to say thank you to those people who touch our lives the most. I am so grateful to all of you who comment on my images and message me, more than you could ever realize. Like my friend (Pops) Steve, I had been a member for some time but had not uploaded images until recently. All I can say is I am so thankful I finally did because since I've taken time to get to know the people there it is one of the most amazing experiences of my life. In all honesty I've discovered that not only are the people here at R'osity some of the most talented in the world but more importantly they are some of the nicest people I have ever come in contact with. Getting to know all of you has given me a new perpective and a hope that there is still a lot of good left in the world, we just have to look in the right place for it. Take care my friends and thank you.
