Description
This new lens has a very shallow dof and this little blighter at around 3mm would not keep still. If you look into the eyes you can see my reflection, so I think I frightened the little chap.
I think this calls for some sort of bellows for very fine adjustment. I am going to the Tram Museum tomorrow for the day so should have plenty of pics for uploading, that will give me time to get my bellows.
Thanks for stopping by and for any comments you care to make.
May the sun shine down on you where ever you are.

The eyes and face are in sharp focus and I have read (and believe) that is the essential area to concentrate on. Since you captured your own reflection in the eyes of a spider, I would venture to say your focus is spot on, lol. My little pocket Nikon 7900 offers very few manual options for altering the depth of field. I basically have to live with whatever DOF I get but fortunately, the built in Nikon Coolpix lens produces very good macros and I am thrilled with it despite the limited manual settings. If my understanding of camera optical principals is correct, you can use a smaller aperture, and/or a greater subject distance and/or a shorter focal length to increase the DOF. Or you can just take pics of critters small enough to fit within the DOF your current settings and equipment produce, lol. I don't know what a "bellows" is but I am sure you will inform us as you play with your new toy some more. I love new toys even when they belong to someone else, lol. Thanks for sharing. Lee
