Description

I was creating some closeup and medium range renders using the Standard Vue SolidGrowth Trees and began to realize that there are some problems with the basic wood trunk and bark materials. Some of these problems are due to how the basic materials are mapped while others require significant improvements to create a more realistic result. So I ended up re-creating the wood materials for the entire basic Vue Tree collection. The materials are 100% procedural and distortion free. They even look decent when rendering at close range. Here's a link showing a comparison of the original versus revised materials (original on the left, new on the right): http://www.skinvue.net/Vue6/VueTrees.jpg Here's a download link to a zip file containing the new materials: http://www.skinvue.net/Downloads/VueTreeWoodMats.zip Enjoy!

The new ones are much nicer, especially the sequoia. I haven't used that tree because of the problems with it. Thank you for recreating them!

I have just three things to say about this: thank you, thank you, and thank you very much! I had to practically toss six scenes dues to the crappy mapping problem with some of the trees (especially after rescaling), and due to that I got fairly proficient with the clone stamp tool in PS....but that's not right. I'll give these a whirl next time for sure! Knowing you, they are fanfrickintastic and the best quality! Thanks again and most excellent work!

Excellent work! That's the same reason I originally created my ForestMATs product, but your trunk work is much better than the basics I worked up for that set. Very well done. :-)
