Malach Elohim, Angel of God, are the army of Adonai and Israel. Often it is said that they have both protected humanity and also served out swift judgment upon those who had sinned against Adonai. Often they have been referred to as the Hosts (as in Adonai Tzivo'ot) and are closely tied to the stars of the universe. To carry out their duties they wield strong powers and are a force to be reckoned with but not worshiped (as taught by Moses). Malach Elohim are often described as being extremely beautiful beings that are as pure and bright as Heaven. They have existed since before Creation.
