Description

They exited to bar and began walking down the dirt road and out of town. Perry ran up to Amanda, “What the hell was all that about?” _”You saw the place. There wasn’t really a chance that any one of them carried a wand…probably only believed in fairy magik.”_ -----“That’s still no reason…” She stopped, turned and cut him off before he could go any farther. Looking as serious as a bull charging, she asked; _”What’s after death?”_ -----“Huh? Heaven and hell I suppose. What does this have to do with…” _”Correct; but there’s more…more places than just those two. Was I good enough to get into Heaven?”_ Perry looked astounded at her questions, not knowing where this was leading to. -----“Well, yeah.” _”Good enough to get into Heaven, but my blood was damned when the werewolves attacked.”_ -----“So…you went to hell?” There was horror in Perry’s voice at this. _”No…there’s a limbo for ‘special’ cases as mine. A type of limbo. It’s filled with nothing but nightmares.”_ -----“But….” _”It’s an ingenious design. If you survive the nightmares, you stay and continue to fight through more of them…but you can die; and if you do, you go to hell. Heaven can’t take the damned but it would be dishonorable to send a good person straight to hell…I’ve lived through that (gesturing back to the bar) nightmare more times than I can count…but I survived and learned how to beat it. By morning, that drunk will have died from his injury.”_ They both turned again and started walking back out of town. -----“But I could’ve just used magik and…” _”And everyone in that place would have seen and thought of ‘black magik’ and you’d have been burned at the steak by morning…I’ve seen the nightmare…I know.”_ After ten minutes of walking, they were in a small clearing just outside the outskirts of town. _”This should do.”_ -----“You sure you can do this spell right?” _”In that limbo, I studied for six months under a very powerful dark wizard…I learned…”_ -----“Yeah, but Transpacial Flux…if it ain’t done right…” _”Just watch…maybe you’ll learn something.”_ Amanda stepped into the center of the clearing with her wand above her head. Muttering what sounded like clicks and whistles, she drew a small rectangle in the air. Reaching down to her side, she picked up the tanning salts and flung the contents into the air. As the salts settled an elaborate archway of what appeared to be glittering diamonds formed in front of her…a translucent fabric seemed to ruffle itself in the doorway. She turned and looked at her brother. _”This will lead us right outside our house.”_ In awe and astonishment, Perry looked at it. -----“Now that’s just damn amazing. So, we get home, get supplies, get rested….” _”Visit mom and dad’s graves…”_ -----“Yeah…that…..and start looking for Charlie.” _”It’s a plan, let’s go.”_ They took each others hands and stepped through the archway…vanishing….
