Description

This is an image I did for a fanart contest for one of my favorite comics: Inverloch by Sarah Ellerton. I had found out about the contest the day before the deadline, and had one day to finish it. :) I'm not sure I'm completely happy with it yet...I ended up liking the expressions, pose and lighting, but I think the textures are lacking. I wish their skin didn't look so flat and plastic, and their hair was more shiny and full of depth. Normally when I render these skin tones they have more detail...for some reason they didn't this time. Any ideas as to what I might be missing? (Some Photoshop post-work) Thanks for looking!

I like their expressions but I think the hair could be more vibrant. The skin is fine. Dont know what hair you used, but personally for me if you look at my gallery the hair needs to be a focus, find some shiny textures and see the difference. Angela

I think the pose and expressions are very natural, well done. I agree the skin and hair could use some "oomph". For tips on skin materials, try reading through this thread (LOTS of info so brew some coffee or tea first!) http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2704900 With the hair, I think the male's hair looks pretty good, but the blonde female could do with some highlights. The best bet might be to use dodge and burn in a graphics program to brush in some highlights and shadows, and maybe pull out some strands for a more realistic feel. Overall a very nice pic which some extra little touches could make even better :-)

Nice pose! But I guess its missing a bit of shadowing, either in rendering or in postwork.
