Description

Yeah, more rocks... but there really wasn't much else up there, after all. Mt Hood is south of St Helens, since the Cascades are a north-south mountain range. Mt Adams is to the east, and much closer, about 30 miles (48 KM). It actually has a pointed top, as I've shown in other shots, but on this day the top layer of clouds never released it. I have a few more from this climb, and then we'll move on to something with green and water. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

Absolutely incredible shot! It looks almost as if you shot it through a window of an airplane, though that would mean the plane was flying terribly low. Anyway, it's gorgeous.

The way it sticks its flat head out of the clouds is fabulous. Great shot and a wonderful pov!

Why is it when you climb a mountain to take pictures of it, you will find other mountains away from you makes better shots. It happens to me too, lol. Mt Adams is just beautiful. Thank you Mt St Helen for the beautiful rock framing and vantage point. And more so, thank you Dennis for your difficult hikes to capture these awesome and wonderful pictures. Aloha

With the clouds like that, this looks like a Pacific Island volcano with it's smoking crater sticking up out of the ocean. Very cool shot.

With the top hidden by the clouds it looks like it is Mt. St. Helens instead of Mt. Adams. The rocks sure add to the beauty of the picture.

Spectacular shot of Mt. Adams! With that thin bank of clouds, I swear it looks like a volcano with a very large flat crater at the top. What an experience to see this from that vantage point!

I agree with Maria, it looks like a caldera filled with steam! It's amazing how dense clouds can be. Thanks for sharing this hike with us!

Oops! I almost said you posted the same picture twice. Different mountains. Wow, the clouds make that mountain look like the volcano.
