Description
Captured 4/26/07, somewhere within walking distance of my domicile.
To avoid boredom among the viewers, I decided to take a different tack today with this particular species, so I employed a Photoshop light filter to show a dahlia as it might have appeared in a romantic silent movie filmed back in the 1920's, starring possibly Pola Negri or Theda Bara. Or maybe even Charlie Chaplin in one of his goofy love sick roles.
Actually, I could have gone all the way, converting the image to black and white and adding a lot of noise full of spots and scratches that are typical of those old films, but that would have destroyed the very beauty and essence of the flower, and, other than daisies, I'm not that kind of guy.
Have a Friday full of fun and frolic!

Beautiful white flower with an interesting petal folding what so tipical for this kind. Like what you did with a filter, kinda created a vignette effect.

Gosh I had forgotten all about Theda Bara. Thanks for that reminder. :-) I adore this flower shot. It has such class and the post work is magnificent. I love the affect you got. I like that you didn't try to make it like an old photograph, rather make it look like a dreamy remembrance of an actual flower from years past.

My mother used to make me dig these up with a huge shovel when I was just a little guy. Then I had to carry them into the basement and set them on the floor to be planted in spring. The ground was hard and it made my shoulders ache. I hated those flowers until in 2000 I began to feature them on my webpage. I learned about them. They became fresh.
