Description

The original closeup of the eyes of my adventure comic heroin Silvia was drawn more than 10 years ago (May 20th, 1997). But as I judged them not totally good in perspective I redrew them two years later (March 10th, 1999); this was the BW image above. In 2002 I opened my 2nd version of my site of drawings, http://www.elcet.net, with a big rollover image that is still on-line and opens the site when you click on it. So I needed a color version of the same illustration, which I did in Adobe Illustrator after vectorization through Adobe Streamline. In the meantime, I made a simplified gouache image made of bits of drawing paper cut with (small) scissors. Some of you have seen this little painting in my previous post Following Matisse (bottom left). Then, in 2004, I published Le Grand Livre d’Illustrator (the Big Illustrator Book), and for its site http://www.le-grand-livre-illustrator.com I needed a rollover button to make a link with my first site; hence the two last simplified drawings. In all these images, Silvia is some 25 years old. Therefore she has a scar cutting her right eyebrow because of an attempt to murder her two years before. Born in 1991 in Vietnam, Silvia grows in a very dangerous world. Tomorrow will be a dramatic anniversary for all the world citizens, of which thousands of innocent victims were brutally assassinated, meaning a start for more and more violent terrorist actions. This post is dedicated to RBlue, a very acomplished comic artist who is currently drawing a top-level black and white retro-scifi comics that you can follow here at Renderosity. I am sure that everybody interested by comics and scifi shall enjoy his excellent pages!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Edouard. I like the story attached to the images here. Reminds me of how time works with art. Most of my older art was sold but my wife kept the drawings that lead up to them. Time erases all connections with them. They look like some other artist's work. A cool feeling I'm sure you're familiar with. Great detail ink work and gouache rules!!! My favorite painting medium! Went to http://www.le-grand-livre-illustrator.com, but sadly my French lacks. Still a very well done site! Went to http://www.elcet.net, Your site, and since it is visual by its very nature I had no problem navigating it! Especially like the Flash work you did on it! Bravo and keep up with the art work!

HEY, I see we were both working on eyes this week. These are beautiful. Really. It's incredible as a coincidence. I originally wanted my eyes to be black with coloured Irises but the warmth couldnt be incorporated. I love these. Almost like vectors, with that crisp clarity. Very well done.

I must have missed this somehow, during the time that I was offline because of Rosh HaShanna. It is very good work, epitomizing the best of the cartoon style. DO keep up the good work. DPH
