Description

First a warm thank you for the nice comments and fav's on yesterday's upload. I couldn't find a year when the building on this image was build, but it must be somewhere between 1898 and 1905 when the Maashaven was created. It used to be used as a storage silo for corn (quaker), until the end of last century when it became empty. Few years ago however it was cleared of rats and became the home of Now & Wow, a dance hall where artists in pop, dance, techno and drum & bass do their thing together with visual artists. I didn't want to manipulate this image too much only did some highlighting and contrast adjustments. I like it very much the way it is. Maashaven is also the place where I photographed my dog on the pier before: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1420435&member Some of you may remember that image ;-) Good day all! Thom A correction: It was build in 1910.

This is quite a large enterprise. The view/scene is great. I like the sun highlights and the angle of the river is good for visual quality.

..It is great to know that such a place is not left to vandalism but renovated to some extend and artist canmake use of it. We certainly can learn a huge lesson here. When I first saw your photograph, I thought waht it must look inside if machinery was still present. I still wonder. Thank you for sharing. egmont

Despite the wear and tear and it's purpose this building has class in my opinion. Your eye has caught it really well. Excellent.

Fabulous shot! The lighting was just right for the picture. It makes everything appear almost magical. Ah yes .. I remember that picture of Flynt, the very regal and dignified looking Grrr.
