Description

Another shot from the pottery section at Wight's Nursery in Lynnwood, Washington .................. As a middle-aged sort of girl, let me tell you that it almost pains me to post this image. I love the composition, but the colors make me wince. It's difficult for me to believe that the 70s retro fad is still with us. I remember being in high school in the mid-1970s, and having a "50s Day" when we were supposed to dress up in twinsets, poodle skirts, bobby socks, and saddle oxfords. At the time, I thought, "The 70s will never come back - there's nothing going on to BRING back!" I was wrong about fax machines, too. Don't ask me for trendy predictions! I did some postwork here, but didn't change any colors. Believe me: I never would have created these colors on purpose! I may have bumped the contrast a tiny bit, but this really is what it appears to be. Burnt Orange and Avocado Green pottery. Sends a shiver down my spine just to think of it!

LOL! I am right behind you then. I remember those days, thinking the exact same thing about the 70's! Great abstract image though! I am trying to learn about abstract, which is difficult for me to wrap my 'things gotta be perfect' mind around that!

Now this took real courage to post. If you think the pottery is bad, they also used Burnt Orange and Avocado Green on refrigerators during the 1970s. How about the long sideburns, tons of hair, gold chains, polyester shirts opened to the navel and bell bottom trousers from that grand era. Not only do I remember the 1950's high school clothing styles, I also remember the 1940's style. Not much difference between the two decades. Anyway, fine composite study of color, light and texture in the photo. Reminds me of pre-Columbian art.

She left out that she wore hot pants in the 1970's. I saw it, and I do not lie.

As a genuine, real live survivor of the 60's, these colors don't seem nearly as bad as you might think!! Though those colors and fridges and stoves as goodoleboy said, took it to a whole new level!! My mom thought they were the best!! (She also hated all my tie-dye, what a surprise!!) Great foto, no matter what the colors are!!

Well I like them, colour that is. Wedgewood Ironstone Ware from the 70's fetches a fortune in auction houses in the UK, I know I bought some lol I think you have a great perception of colors.

Ah, but your job as a photographer is to accurately reproduce the scene, and it looks like you've done an admirable job of that. Besides, these colors aren't so bad. They look kind of Egyptian. Kind of. Maybe.

Great colours and texture. Being a child of the seventies, I can only really say that they any colour blindness brought about in the 70's was tripley reinforced in the 80's, we can only hope that fluro orange wigs stay where they belong......
