Description

Your journey begins at the Town End Terminus, in this view you can see on the left tram number 3006. When the trams are restored at Crich, great care is taken to ensure that every detail is historically acurate, but in less enlightened times, the needs of disabled people were not always considered and trams were not accessible to wheelchairs. In 1997 the Access Tram was launched, a 1969 Berlin tram specially adapted by the Museum to carry people with mobility difficulties. On the right of the shot is tram number 68 from Paisley and district 1919, this is an open topped double decker. Answers to questions from yesterday: First to Janiss & PJ, tho old man on the right is riding an electric, disabled persons scooter, there are a few different sorts, this particular one is a light weight fold up four wheeler, that can be carried in the boot of a car. They have a top speed of about 4 miles per hour. Some can do 10mph. Second Ionel, this is only part of the site, There is about a mile of track going up into the valley, the round trip on the tram takes about 25 to 30 minutes. There is also a woodland walk and the workshops and display area's. It is a great day out and I feel that you cannot fully appreciate the museum in one visit. It's open from 10:00hrs till 17:30 hrs in the summer. See http://www.tramway.co.uk for more information Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make. May the sun shine down on you where ever you are.

Ah yes, here we call those scooters a scout. They are great for getting around. Now this guy in this shot is a hoot. I find his attire enchanting... fabulous shot.

Another great shot Jeff and reminder of such a brilliant time we had there. If I recall correctly the Paisley Tram was the first one we rode on, Paying the conductor with the "One Old Penny" given to us at the Museum entrance. At the end of the journey another man unhooks the Trolley (the long rod on top) turns it round and hooks it up again ready to go back on the same track. great stuff!

Back in the day when selenium was the rectifier and Alexander Graham Bell was the inventor of note. I don't know anything about European rectifier developers. There must have been some. Or it could have just been a bridge across a diamond. Siemens?

Brilliant shot Jeff. Love the 'happy' old guy! Seriously, the juice bottle in his pocket is an amazing red. I noticed it while looking at all the different textures. Great shot.
