Description

Nikon 7900 image. Here are a couple of spider shots I managed to get this week. Arachnid #2 is almost surely a spotted Fishing Spider and #1 seems to be very similar in body and eye structure although the colors and patterns differ. Both images were captured around the water's edge. You may have seen a wide variety of little critters perched on my fingers or in my hand but very few spiders are included among those. I am not terrified of them but I do have some reluctance to actually hold many of them; especially the larger ones and both of these spiders would fill up the palm of my hand (if I held one, which I don't, and which I doubt I will very often, lol) Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

you are too modest Lee. the quality of these captures would stand against any wildlife photographer. I seen a golden wing dragonfly this morning the first time in my life. I got two shots but neither is very good.it disappeared before I was able to sneak up close

I'm with PJ all the way & also Richard, you undersell yourself Lee. Your photography is up there with the best and pretty high up the ladder as well. I wish I was on the bottom rung instead of in the cellar. The clarity and detail is fantastic, these could be turned into plates to adorn any reference book on spiders, and 99% of your other critter shots could be used the same way. You are your own worst critic, stand back a bit and listen to the critics on here. Awesome stuff, with spiders, like these two it's the eye's that freak me out, eight eyes they have one for each leg. I suppose its so they don't put a foot wrong. lol I have still not mastered my new lens, the dof is so shallow on a shot like this, I would only be able to focus on the head, the rest of the body would be out. My highest f is f8 unless I go fully manual when I can get f11, I might give that a try later if there is no wind. Bravo!!!!!

Brilliant photos! Those spiders are amazing, and you've captures an incredible level of detail. Wow. I agree with you about having spiders on your hands, I love spiders, but don't really want them crawling on me, either!
