I have never seen your work before, and having a past in designing technical manuals and audio equipment ads, this illustration rocks, as well as your gallery. (I am assuming a part of a book of some-sort) This looks Illustrator based, however, I found no explanations within your other gallery pieces, no info at all. Cheers, Kurt (I tend to tell folks a bit about my approach, but not all of the details)

A surprise because I only knew about the later Curtiss one, interesting shading.

My favorite era of aviation the late biplane fighters. There is a beauty to them. Once the cockpits became enclosed they lost the whole knights of the air mysticism.

Another sharp view of a lesser known aircraft. I love the 1930s planes, too!

With regard to Dann-O's comment, there is a photograph at http://www.historicaircraft.org/Navy-Aircraft/pages/Curtiss-02C1.html which suggests some versions of the model had an enclosed cockpit - much better for reading the odd novel. It looks to be a "well-fed" beastie which is not the best background for any aircraft which claims fighter tendencies. As always the picture evidences fine workmanship.
