Description

Nikon 7900 image. Todays caterpillar is kind of unique because it jumps, lol. When it has decided it is time to go somewhere fast, it bows up into a "U" shape like an inch worm then flings itself into the air with a powerful push. By doing this, it can immediately travel several of it's body lengths in distance. That is pretty neat to see, lol. A bit startling the first time though, lol. When not "jumping", this one was still difficult to capture because it moved so fast by just crawling. It is a real speedster. Heck, even when setting still, it was frustrating trying to get everything in focus because all the hairs that cover it's body moved so easily in the breeze. I must have taken 100 shots and manged to only get 2 or 3 that are usable. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee
