Description

TMFV Page 009. Just had to get a cameo from Tobor. Some latency in getting around to submitting this page. Had little time this last week to generate work but will forge ahead! Got some more pages on the way! Used the same process and applications as usual. (See earlier pages for list) Enjoy and remember, comments are a staple we artists feed on! *** Tweaked the page a bit to accomodate some issues raised here, Thanks for the input..***

Hehe, there's always a robot carrying off a feinted lady in his arms. It just wouldn't be classic 50's sci fi without it! Excellent!

Young naïve teens, but brave and adventurous. I keep telling them not to go inside, but they won’t listen. They do not heed my warnings. Soon it will be time for them to meet the Martian leader and submit to his many bizarre forms of experimentation. Excellent RBlue. Love the ship’s interior. What I’m learning from your series is how to loosen up artistically – in style, composition, and toolset. It pushes my own need for creative experimentation and the courage to step out of what has become a staid formality of my self.

Great panel layout. Love the old sci fi black and white movie look of this comic. And that robot Tobor wow very tride and true classic design and moment like shadownet stated.

The grey-scale compensating the absent colors and the presentation of the characters in the scene is plausible. But..one point of criticism! It takes too long time to the next part!

I like your comics and will continue reading them. I find your 50s style refreshing. However, I feel I might be able to say a thing or two to help. You have always had an amazing way with words when commenting - I don't see that in your scripts - I wish I would. The first box shows a man and woman standing outside the ship, Dialog is right on. Box two: the two are talking about how big and clean it is - I'm assuming they are in the ship now... Going into the ship is what this strip is lacking. You could of showed some action, croutching down, crawling, looks of excitement... the two could of said they were entering the ship to each other. What happened to the man after the girl fainted??? Showing his reaction could of given you something to work with. I know this is intended to be a comic book of 25 or so pages, but a narrator box would be very helpful and useful. At the top you could say: Somewhere in Arizona, at 12:19 am .... I'm just trying to help inspire and give some ideas, I like what you're doing here. I look forward to seeing what happens next. PS, did I tell ya I have lousy reception on the tv, so this is my way of getting stories told to me.LOL

Excellent addition to the series. I love the retro feel here, and that robot with the girl in his arms literally comes out of 50s movie posters as I recall. Excellent work!

Very remarkable page too… I partly agree with what Mikeerson said, because the way the story is told depends about the narrative style. In the great tradition of the comics of the 1935 to 55, i.e. Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon or Edgar-P. Jacobs' Black & Mortimer, everything is told without any gap, whether with an extra panel or with a narrator box. This is said to be true for manga too. But in later Belgian-style adventure comics, when the reader is considered that he can understand what happens, some panels are deliberately not drawn, and no narrative box comes to explain what is considered as self-explaining for the reader; this approach is called an ellipse and it is typical of non-manga comics. Another great point of your story is that there is a suspense at the bottom of the page: we cannot see what will follow. But this raises another point; you say that it is page 9. True that your comics is understood as a web-comics one. But if you hope (and I think it is worth) paper publishing, then normally a page n° 9 will be a left page, and it would be better to get it as a right one; normally the suspense has to increase from the top of the left page to the bottom of the right one. I understand that it is not always easily a point to achieve.
