Description

My husband and I took a trip down into Detroit where I grew up, and I was shocked at how much of the city was torn down. When I was little, my grandmother's sister, My Great Aunt Carrie, still lived in the family farmhouse on Six Mile and Conant - on a half acre in what was then a built-up, crowded city. I loved to look at pictures from the days when there were still farms there and when the city was far from that house. The house is long gone now, but the dining room looked somewhat like this. Except my Aunt had a picture of poppies in a vase over the buffet. Of course, you must have the lace table cloth or it would not be a dining room! I guess I can't understand why city planners do not try to save historic buildings and instead they like to tear them down. Furniture from Daz. Hair by Aprilish. TY - Rebelmommmy for your beautiful character, available at RDNA! The wonderful dress is dynamic and in freestuff here!

Wonderful scene Sherrie and you really brought this memory back to life so well for us to share. It's too bad things have to change from what we rememeber as children.

I've seen pictures recently of parts of Detroit that have been abandoned and reclaimed by nature ... not, necessarily a bad thing. This appears to be a wonderful nostalgic scene. One done very well, I might add. Excellent work.

Memories This is a fantastic picture! There used to be a really great Art Deco building in Kansas City that had huge gargoyles at the top. I loved that old building...they tore it down and there's a big ugly thing there now...It's sad.

Love the composition and the character, lighting is great. the only thing I would consider changing is the floor. I like it but it seems that a wood floor would fit the decor and character better, and then maybe it's just me. very good render

Stunning composition! Great lighting! Her pose is awesome and gives the feeling of relaxation as well as anticipation -- like she's ready to greet somebody that she is comfortable with. Beautiful! :^)

Beautiful atmospheric image full of reminiscences.. Things are look the same everywhere. I am 38 years now and seen who much my mother's place has changed over the years. From an thriving picturesque agricultural place to a tourist attraction. Unfortunately people have a distorted idea about the word “development” and in the place of the old roomy stone houses they prefer the modern claustaphobic mezonettes.

Uma obra fantástica. Infelizmente a memória de nossa história parece estar fadada a ser inteiramente destruída, pelo menos aqui no Brasil é assim, é lamentável. Aplausos (5) A fantastic work. Unhappily the memory of our history seems to be predestined to be destroyed entirely, at least here in Brazil it is like this, it is lamentable. Applauses (5) Em função de uma enchente, a maior dos últimos anos, estive fora do ar, desculpe o atraso em meus comentários. In function of an inundation, the largest of the last years, was out of the air, excuse the delay in my comments

How wonderful that you can create a piece of your past like this to go with your story. This one is truly special. It's not so much the city planners though as it is the politicians who opt for the quick, easy and cheap way to build (and tear down) a city.

It's beautiful and I look on the woman's face it really shows her remembering something from her past. I can understand how you feel about older buidings being torn and cities expanding, it's a pity that the same thing happens and is still happening in Chicago.
