Description

Hello all!! Well got my computer fixed - they thought at first that the hard drive was toast but a nice computer guy managed to salvage it after hours of work... ( thanks Greg!!!...) yeaaa! SO putting up a collage from a drive thru Northern Indiana Amish country taken in late July... I liked the big puffy clouds and old world feel of this rural very Amish Farmer/buggy ridden town called Shippshawana... - So all pics here taken from the car with a pocket cam *and most through a dirty window-LOL~!!... on top of that it seemed near impossible to shoot from the car window as I REALLY didnt want to offend any Amish folks- found out you have to be VERY careful when taking pictures of these people locked in another time- they get offended so you have to sneak shots if any!! so a little glimpse of this world here... Got company comming tonight here and another b-day party here so have to run - ... *please view at full size as the pics have already been very reduced to fit in collage - thanks... Thanks for all your time and comments ! Love to all! ((( BIG hugs ))) ~ Kimarie ♥ :O)

You either got a damn good stabilizing lens on ya camera or great springs int eh seat of your car... not going to mention anything about your bum being able to adjust automatically for teh bumps in the road.. they are all so clear... how do ya do it... it has got to be your self adjusting bum and the car seat springs...lol... just joking Lady.. you're the BEST!!!

Oh these are excellent and I would never have guessed they were taken through a car window. ;-) I live on an island run for over a century by an austere presbyterian religion - a bit like the Amish. I find your photo's fascinating.

An amish village and its inhabitants always seem a population living of the regrets of the past. Some of your photographs point out my childhood in France to me, in particular the horses drawing children and farmers returning of the fields... right are, are wrong to be courrir after progress? Are they socially frileux, or too are us ' modernes'? Isn't this makes a way of it of seeing the others?

I love a good collage and this is a GOOD collage. All the images are bright and cheery and convey the sense of the area well. My folks are "fans" of the Amish and regale me with stories of their visits to that part of the USA.

Its a matter of vanity that photos are outlawed. I was stunned to see you had these photos. And to see those kids on the trampoline and the buggy making its way down the street is marvelous. When I was young, we used to buy produce from an Amish cart that came down our street each week. Great shots you got-well done!

Thank you for sharing these photos Kim-Marie. There are many people (myself among them) who believe that sustainable communities such as Amish are leading the way forward into our oil depleted 21st century. Such communities would of course not exist without the religion that under-pins them and provides the values that direct them. People should take a good long look at these pictures and imagine themselves in such a society - because the status quo is simply not going to last forever. The garden design at the bottom RHC testifies that beauty in such a world is achievable but labour intensive and never the result of a five minute render.
