Hey Y'all, welcome to my homepage.
Â
I love taking pictures. I have been a member for a while, but only started uploading pictures this year, 2007. I just got a new Nikon D80, and Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo x2. I enjoy looking at the RR community art. It inspires me to take better pictures. I want comments and advice so I can become a better photographer.

Beautiful colors!!!

The shot is lovely but if you are showing off the squirrel, its too busy to pull it out of the shot easily - especially since the tree and the squirrel as so close in color. The tree, however, is very good. And yes, you qualify as novice and you are welcome here. Relax. :-)

Very well done. 5+.

My rule is..if YOU like what is seen in an image..then post it.....always another chance tomorrow...:) and Mrs. Lubner is correct..the squirrel is hard to find...

I can't even see the squirrel? This is not a photo I would have posted.

....LOL.....I should of named it squirrel head in the middle. I was chasing him/her down the trail and it darted off into what you see in the picture. Lots of under growth and vines. So when I saw it peaking at me through the split trunk of the tree I took the picture. It is only it's head looking at me from the side. Maybe that will help you see it. It is kind of like when you went to the doctor as a kid and they had those magazines "Highlights" and you had to find the hidden stuff on the back cover. Thanks for all the comments. Todd

I felt kind of challenged by this one too, so I stole it and opened it in Photoshop in order to get a better idea of how I would have handled it. (I hope you don't mind! Sometimes it's hard for me to imagine how I would treat an image, and I have to fuss with it myself to figure it out.) Here's some more cropping blah blah, which you can ignore if you don't like it: I took off the left-hand couple of inches, everything past the strong vertical branch. Then I cropped off the bottom inch or so, hoping I wasn't getting rid of the critter I was looking for! All of a sudden he popped out at me! I clone-stamped out some of the branches right around the little guy, which made him even more visible. That's a bit trickier to do, but worth learning about. Ummm . . . I think I lightened it up a bit, as well. Even if I hadn't found the squirrel, changing the crop made this a more interesting image, to my tastes. So! All that is by way of saying that I don't think this has been your best shot so far, but it's worth experimenting on to see what you can learn about this sort of subject matter! Nice one, capturing a wild animal! It's something I haven't done yet!

Ok! I give up! Fun shot, but even though I cleaned my glasses I can't find the little beggar! Is this a 'Where's Waldo' thing?

I found the lil critter with his head sticking out of the hole. Right in the middle where you said. Not the easiest capture. Great subject anyway. I'm with frankie96, if u like it post it ;-)
