Notes are a work in progress:
This is probably one of my most ambitious images to date if you're judging by time-to-render. There was no immediate inspiration for this one, and trying to hunt down a decent poem, folktale, or faery story has been a series of close misses. Rather than hold the image up for my research I figured I'd go ahead and post it and update the comments later (if I ever find anything!)
