Description

A simple scene which is a result of just ‘playing around’ in Bryce. I just took a nice sky and then created a very large sphere (about 3800 Bus) of clear glass (with a little refraction) and then placed the camera upside-down inside it – almost straight away the background was created! This is why I enjoy using Bryce so much – it rewards experimentation. So, the curve of the horizon, the glow of the refracted sun and the ‘cloudfall’ effect itself are all the result of just a single glass sphere. The towers are there to convey scale more than anything, though I think they make a tremendous vantage point for such an atmospheric phenomenon as this! The small figure enjoying the view is The Dude, a freebie from David Sandberg and available from Turbosquid. The material used on the domes is called Orange Glow, and I’m pretty sure its either a Bryce standard or from the Bryce 6 Content DVD. The stonework material comes from Stone Pack 1 (a Bryce 5 materail by xcelverx (I’m pretty sure this is available in the Marketplace No postwork except the sig in this image, all courtesy of experimentation in Bryce 6.1. Hope you like it – comments are always appreciated!

Almost missed the "dude". Pointing him out was proper! He helps scale the scene. But now, as I look at the image again, he seems to be up in the stratosphere. How does he breethe? A neat effect on the sky.

Wonderful image and fantstic technique for the sky. As you say, experimenting can sometimes produce things that you never thought possible, that's why I sometimes spend an hour or so just going crazy with Bryce, well done my friend ... Tony :-)
