The Centauri Alliance paid the price for its policy of strict neutrality. Perhaps it was the holier-than-thou posturing, rather than the fact of neutrality, that really goaded the galaxy's warring states. The Alliance spent little on defence, assuming it to be superfluous. Such defences as it did possess were pitifully feeble, when the militarily successful empires used their almost incessant wars to drive technological development. It was the Amazon Empire that finally decided to wind up the Alliance. Spear-headed by elite flying infantry, the StarValkyries, Amazon forces descended simultaneously on every major city in the Alliance, ruthlessly crushing resistance and terminating the Centauri Alliance in a matter of minutes. All done in bug-packed Carrara 6, which can even hit an error when you try to shut it down.
