In the first months after the annexation of Centauri by the Amazon Empire, former Centauri citizens grew accustomed to the sight of heavily armoured and armed StarValyries, conducting airborne patrols. These patrols became steadily less numerous, though, partly because the Centauri inhabitants came to acquiesce in their subjugation, since the Amazons were evidently there to stay, and partly because the Valkyries were elite combat troops, for whom the Empire could find plenty of action elsewhere, and were too good to waste on mere garrison duties.
