Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!

This is an awesome shot, but it could use some more depth. If you turned up the contrast a little (or at least just made the dark parts darker) this'd be perfect. Man, that haze blurring the horizon line is so majestic and beautiful, not to mention those towering rocks. You done good.

Excellent at full size Alan, you certainly like living on the edge don't you? I wonder how many pics you took whilst over there? I hope you weren't holding anybody up. LOL. You are seeing things with different eye's now, this really is outstanding. Bravo!!!!!

Fabulous view! Those rocks are phenomenal. I agree with ACS - juicing the contrast a bit, tweaking the levels a little, would make this great shot a totally amazing one.

Those broad-bladed dagers of rock that jut out of the water are great and the view is stunning.

Awesome shot. This kind of shots are one of my favorite. Nature at it's best. Wonderful capture and great POV. Aloha

Madeira should be imagined as a rock mass which rises bottom of the ocean (-2000m) to reach important heights (Pico Ruivo +1861m.) Practically on all the circumference of the island, cliffs fall vertically into water.

Great POV, my friend. The terrain, atmosphere and sea speak for themselves. The scale is well represented. At first glance, I though someone had tried sneaking a rendered landscape from BRYCE, VUE or whatever, into the Photography gallery, but as with real nature, as opposed to automatic eco-systems, this has all the hallmarks of the real thing. Uneven sea, boiling foam about the hidden, and not so hidden rocks, strong light and shadows starkly showing the closeup textures, and then all that uneven fractal-but-not-quite-fractal rock surfaces, strata and colours. God could afford the best, I am sure, but He doesn't need computers and programs and graphic cards to produce a masterpiece of coast such as this... ;o) It is perfect, because it is imperfect, if that makes any sense.. Warm regards from a sunny but quite nippy Glasgow, John.
