Description

Hello all! Here's another Zion view but this time from the top. You cannot see this from the car- you must hike WAY up a mountian quite a ways from the road for this view. I didn't know JUST how far up when I set out in my high heels . I had just been to Georgia's wedding and was in 4 inch wedge heels and didn't have time to find my tennis shoes in the bottom of the pile of luggage way in the back of the family van. SO we just stopped FOR what I thought was going to be a quick trail hike to the lookout ... It was more of a mountain and a good hour hike up . So most of the time during this hike up -believe it or not - don't laugh now- yeah I did it in bare feet (even though I do have tough feet from running around barefoot in California, my feet were hurting after this one LOL!! ) well worth it when you can see this kind of natural grand vista! This was taken mid-day, visibility was at about 70 percent and it was a little bright out... It's a hike I don't think I will EVER forget so I thought I would share this with you today !! A little info on Zion: ______________________________________________ Zion National Park, Utah is often said to be one of the most beautiful places in America and is a masterpiece of towering cliffs, deep red canyons, mesas and massive monoliths.Massive canyon walls ascend toward a brilliant blue sky. To experience Zion, you need to walk among the towering cliffs, or challenge your courage in a small narrow canyon. These unique sandstone cliffs range in color from cream, to pink, to red. They could be described as sand castles crowning desert canyons. Evidence of Ancestrial Puebloans, known as the Anasazi, date from 2,000 years ago; Paiutes from about 800 years ago to present. Mormon settlers arrived in the 1860's. Park visitation in 1920 was 3,692; in 1996 it reached 2.5 million. _____________________________________________ ( one shot here just cropped-) Best at full size Thank you for all your time and comments!! Love to you all!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ :O) Kimmers ! ♥

I have been at Zion Canyon in summer 2001, and from my point of view as German, which never see Canyons daily, Zion Canyon is a better place for a tourist as the Grand Canyon. Maybe becourse at Zion Canyon you came in down and you can look to the high. At Grand Canyon you are on top and have to look downwards (I hope you understand what I want to say s). I enjoyed Zion Canyon much more. Thanks for bring back good memories to me!!

Walking around the Mountains in Utah barefoot, now that's funny. Your are proof that Southern Cal girls are not just bikinis and beaches. We are glad you did, because that is a beautiful picture. Todd

That is certainly worth the hike, a wonderful shot, but your poor feet. I hope they have healed all right. I love the different colours of the rocks. Thankyou for the information too.

Absolutely gorgeous! Zion is one of my favorite national parks. I was just there last month. I took my mom and dad and aunt and uncle sightseeing around Utah and Arizona and visited Zion and Bryce and then down to the Grand Canyon. We had a blast!
