A la Foire du Lac Inlé il y a de tout, surtout du bric a brac en plastique et produits chinois trés bas de gamme.
Mais il reste quelques artisans qui resistent, même s´ils doivent travailler avec du matérial vraiment pas cher pour pouvoir faire face à la concurrence.
Le vendeur de masques en papier marché enchante les enfants. Son stand est une fête de formes et couleurs qui attire le regarde de loin.
Quand on est enfant, qu´est-ce qu´on peut être heureux avec un masque à trois sous!
In the Fair Inle Lac you can find all, specially Chinese products of bad quality, plastic, but very cheap. But there remain some craftsmen who resist, even they must work with material really not expensive to be able to face competition.
The salesman of “papier maché” masks enchants the children. His stand in the Fair is a festival of forms and colors which attracts looks at it by far.
When you are children, what we can be happy with a mask with three pennies!

This is what I have learned about Chinese objects. They are not copies. They are like firing artillery over a hill. The tube is quite accurate but you do not know what is there and the rounds land without an aim point dialed in to any target. I think it is because they lack an alphabet. Thus there is no orthography. As each dimension is treated somewhat freely intersections are permitted and tolerances exceeded where centers occur. The item works all right mechanically it just won't mount in known places. The character set of the workmen or women is for a small region and masks a global form.

Oh the wonders of childhood. When we were young; the things we used to do to keep amused. This has brought back memories, I used to make my own masks out of 'papier maché' a balloon, newspaper and flour and water for the glue. Thanks for the memories and for this wonderful photograph Mousson you certainly have a panache for this type of photography. Bravo!!!!!
