Description
A 3rd post from the Big Lagoon State Park, located on the coastal western tip of the Florida panhandle.
Took this last weekend on a quickie trip down to the coast. The water behind Leah is the Intercoastal Waterway, and the long strip of land in the background is a thin barrier Island, which stretches for miles. And beyond that is the Gulf of Mexico.
The water on the left is the edge of what's known as the Big Lagoon, a preserve filled with an abundance of wildlife, both above and below the water. It's an amazingly beautiful area, although still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Ivan in September 2004 (2 posts back).
There was also an abundance of sea shells to be found, not to mention the constant sea breeze mixed with the sound of sea gulls, all in the bright sunshine.
My previous post, Hurricane Recovery gives another view along with the story of Hurricane Ivan.
And Great Blue Heron was another encounter we had that day!
Thanks to those who actually read all this!
