Description

Those who have been following my travels may remember me whining about climbing Mt Defiance the Columbia River Gorge this summer. Last month we went about halfway up Dog Mountain, directly across the river from Mt Defiance. So now I can give you a view of the Mt Defiance hike. On the other side of the river from where I'm standing is the highway, Interstate 84. Near the left side of this shot you can see the exit (Starvation Creek) where the hike started. In the upper right, at the highest point, I hope you can see a tower. That's the top of Mt Defiance. It would be too hard to try to describe the actual route, but because of the steepness of the ridges and valleys, we had to basically go straight up the ridges, which is why we were all exhausted at the end of the day. I did some minor adjustments to this, but the water really was that color. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

This gives me the feeling of being able to jump off into the air and soar like an eagle. Great shot.

What a beautiful picture. No wonder you were tired after hiking up Mt. Defiance...that looks like a real killer of a hike. That hike is for fit individuals only.

Beautiful view ... And it certainly puts the difficulty of your hike in a better perspective ... Totally awesome that you were able to accomplish it ...

I remember your Mt. Defiance hike well! The shots you got from there were well worth listening to you whine. ;) I knew it was a rough hike, but this shot gives me a much better idea of what you were up against. Aside from that, it's just a great image. Beautiful scenery!
