This is a shot of Mt. Hood from my Vista Ridge hike of last August. I like the way it shows just how craggy and young, geologically speaking, the mountain is. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

This snow in August thing always amazes me. Being from the east coast where there is not anything high enough to keep it's snow all year round, this always surprises me. In the height of the summer, does the snow/ice get soft and crumbly or stay firm and icy? I love the sharpness of this mountain, and the bits of snow still clinging to it add a lovely accent. The erosion runnels in the snow are fascinating, almost a harbinger of things to come in the stone.
