Description

Just inside the walls of the old city, and long way from the intefada. When hate is set aside and reason, kindness, and love prevail, there is always hope, isn't there? A Palestinian grandmother and her grandkids negotiating the winding alleys of the ancient city.

Shots like this are one of the many reasons I enjoy photography so much. There is a lot going on here...there is the obvious human element of course, and the brilliantly captured colors and textures, but what appeals to me the most is the amount of detailing that you have been able to capture here, in regard to the various facial expressions, primary focus, and the great texture of the wall to the right. Everything is well balanced and there's something interesting in every portion of this picture. GREAT work!!!!

Beautiful documentation. I also like your collage of the ancient ruins and your comments about the Syrians. I have several Iranian friends, and I am told the same applies to their attitude about Westerners and Americans. Generally speaking, they are very open-minded and friendly toward Americans. One cannot always judge a country's people by the current regime in power or by what is shown on the news. I have had an open invitation to visit Iran, but I am kind of leary. But who knows, maybe next year. You are obviously not your average tourist, judging by the locations you pick, your photos and your comments. It is enjoyable to look at the pictures and read about your observations.
