Description

Here's a view of the "Enterprise." This first shuttle was not designed for space flight. It was used to test the design's aerodynamics and practice the glider style landings. One tends to forget how big the shuttle is. It's actually about the size of an old DC-9 airliner. The fellow checking out the nose gear gives a good sense of scale. If you are in the Washington D.C. area, drive out to Dulles airport and stop by the National Air and Space Museum annex. Lots of big boy planes and space ships are on display. Lots of good smaller aircraft, too.

Coolio! Great photograph. Went to see it again back in July, they have made considerable improvements in the displays since I was there in 2004.

I missed my chance to get out and see to much last time I was in D.C. Now I wish I have had a little more time as there is so much to take in.
