Description

The French built Caudron twin engine series served the Allied cause thoughout World War I in the reconaissance, bomber, and training roles. This is a 1916-17 model, and I thought it would be a nice contrast to my Shuttle "Enterprise" photo. Heavier than air avaition has come a long way in only 100 years! (The Caudron is also on display at NASM Dulles Airport.) Thanks to everyone who has commented recently. I've been really busy, but I promise to check out your galleries soon!

It does stand in stark contrast with the shuttle but I also realize it was a marvel for its time.

One of the props is a fiberglass replica. It had a lead weight to trail an antenna.
