Description

The Bird of Paradise flower is a symbol of the Island of Madeira. It can be seen growing just about everywhere. The reference to Jeff(JeffG7BRJ) in the title, was that with last couple of Jeffs posts he included a funny little poem that mentions a bird of Paradise. Couldn't find a real Bird of Paradise! for you Jeff. Thanks for viewing. Have a good evening.

The verse that I tagged onto my post actually comes from a Old Time Country Music song Alan, by Little Jimmy Dickens and was I believe performed by him at the Grand Old Opry on more than one occasion. I don't think he sang that song as beautiful as this flower is though. I did know there was a plant by the same name Alan but I didn't think I was going to get on dedicated to me. So thanks for that, I don't mind at all. Bravo!!!!! Re Saturday/ Sue might be able to take you I can give her directions, see you tomorrow.

I have always loved these flowers and 3 years ago I finally bought one. I've never had a bloom. After researching it on-line, it seems there are two varieties...one produces many beautiful flowers and is relatively low-growing. the other kind is very tall and doesn't produce many if any flowers and used more for a hedge. Guess which one I stupidly bought?

We have several bird of paradise plants in our yard in Florida, but, although they grow and bloom, they don't seem to thrive as well as these! Wonderful capture! :^)
