Description
This is on Weir's Beach, where the tides bring us the most amazing driftwood. Some tides occasionally bring a bounty of seaweed, which folks take away by the truckload for their gardens. This was such a day, and the seaweed totally covers the sand. Straight south from Weir's beach is Race Rocks, basically a little rocky outcrop with a lighthouse, named for the strength of the tides. I highly recommend racerocks.com as this is now a world heritage site with cameras both above and below the water, watching the resident California seals, sea lions and birds. Some of those bulls must weigh 1,000s of lbs! Straight south across the strait is Port Angeles, in Washington State.
I had a hard time here wondering how much cropping to do, but the full sized view shows the wood quite well. Enjoy, ( and do visit Race Rocks!)

Ummm . . . I was a bit baffled by the tree, but NOW what are you trying to tell me? LOL! :) This is a gorgeous piece of driftwood. It looks to have been in the water for a very long time! I used to live in Port Angeles, but it was years and years and years ago. (More than 25.) I would wave to you, but I'm not there now. :)

and I would wave back, but I moved to a different tree! There were too many neighbours in the condo you see above!

Superb clarity, lighting effects and wide variety of wonderful textures in this photo of the old driftwood, with all the jagged holes embellishing its hide, Chris.
