Description

Captured 8/25/07 during the parade celebrating the 50th birthday anniversary of my city. I just love this shot! It's a followup to the photo I posted on 10/5/07, where the zealot in front is saluting me. Terrific facial expressions all the way around, of the front members of a band marching ungleefully along. The dudes with the tuba and trumpet look like they're resentfully returning to school after summer vacation. Either that or their shoes pinch. This reminds me so much of something from a futuristic scifi movie, depicting a dark side totalitarian black clad death squad, with raptor talon icons on their chest, en route to burn books, photo albums and iPods. This is so dynamically keen! In retrospect, maybe I should have posted this photo for my No. 500 contribution on RR, rather than the pink rose. Better viewed full size. Thanks for dropping by!

Another great capture from you, and I love the way the guy in the front is putting in his all, but obviously not inspiring the guys behind him ;o) Excellent and you do make me laugh!!! Jane xx

You're commentary is SOOOO funny. I keenly remember the days of sweating off a few pounds in a HOT marching band uniform. My Dad was the director so I was more than obligated. You must continue on the parade route no matter what! I'd say their expressions could also be a sign of sheer boredom or complete dehydration from marching on hot asphalt, wearing black in August.... lol Great capture!

I gotta say you nailed this one, Harry. that guy in front is way too serious. and from here it looks like he drew his hairline on with an eyebrow pencil. The middle guy is so unhappy with having people actually looking at him and the guy in back still needs someone to herd him in the right direction. What a weird bunch. Great shot of them though. Be careful, now that you have exposed them for what they are they might come back and whisk you off to their secret laboratory where they will make you "one of them....."

odie: Maybe the dour expressions were from sheer boredom, but not dehydration from marching on hot asphalt, because at this juncture the band had only marched about two blocks on a relatively cool overcast day in August when this shot was taken.

I love your zealot, Harry. He has personality plus! I got a kick out of the other one, and this is just as good. What a wonderful bunch! I love the casual spectator, sauntering vaguely along. Excellent capture!

Skinhead rejects are like that. The state trooper sunglasses are not quite arrogant enough to overcome the geekiness of a baggy uniform.

Your description is perfect, they do look very intense and I would not want to meet them in a dark alley!
